Sahali Mall Display - October 2006
Each year the
Kamloops Chapter has a Spring & Fall Mall Show. This year the
Fall Show was held at the Sahali Mall with a theme of "Back In
Time." Gerry Wallin did a fantastic job of organizing 17 cars for
this show. The mall staff were so pleased they asked if the cars
could stay another week. Unfortunately, that was not possible.
We set up an information table giving our car sitters a place to
be. We always have one or two club members watching the cars
during the hours the car is open. Other members often drop by for
a visit. On the table we have a number of photo albums featuring
past events. Club members and the public alike enjoy looking at
them. It brings back memories for the members plus reminds us how
fast time is passing us by.
We offer the services of a "Tin Book" (book for Wanted and For Sale
items). This information is then published in our club newspaper,
"The Kamshaft." Other items on the desk consist of various
swap meet flyers, copies of The Kamshaft & The Vintage Car, and
Membership applications. Past Mall Shows have managed to recruit
us new members.
Talking with the public is very interesting - we hear their personal stories about cars and answer questions they may have.
We offer a "People's Choice Award" where the public gets a chance to
vote for the car of their choice. (Some people think they are
going to win the car they vote for.) Wayne & Judy Clarke with
their 1964 Chevy win it this time. They have the pleasure of
enjoying the trophy until our next mall show.
