Next stop was at Rick and Jeanine Wourm's garage where we saw the progress on Rick’s 55 Chrysler New Yorker 2 door hardtop (with a hemi) and his many other projects. His son, age 6, showed us his own large tool chest which he uses when he is “helping Dad” with the projects.
Next stop was at Ron Buck’s shop where Ron had a selection of old tools laid out on the trunk lid of his 55 Dodge hemi sedan which is under restoration in one section and his 28 Model A roadster in another section is getting closer to completion. Ron also has a section which is more of a museum with memorabilia, old car ads, lamps, model vehicles, etc and is also the night time home of his daughter’s Dodge and Ron’s 41 Dodge sedan.
A quick step through the gate to the next door garage owned by Jason Tasko gave us a chance to look at Jason’s progress on his 26 Chevrolet 1 Ton truck. He had the motor running and with the vehicle up on blocks, he put it in gear and the rear wheels turned smoothly. Jason has done a real nice job on this restoration. We look forward to seeing the body being constructed next. The cab is all wood and will be constructed based on pictures Jason has. Also in the shop was Jason’s 40 Dodge which is totally original.
Ron had arranged with a neighbour across the street to allow us to look in his garage at his 2 future projects. A 53 Chev pickup and a 73 Cuda convertible.
We headed off to Andy Cordonier’s shop on Tagish to view the progress on the ambulance and to enjoy a great Hot Chili lunch prepared by chef Bob Chambers. Everyone had their lawn chairs out to eat and chat in the sunshine.
A presentation of a pine beetle wood clock with the image of the ambulance carved into it was made by Jack Woolard to Andy on behalf of the club for his generous donation of time and space to allow us to work on the restoration of the ambulance.
After lunch was done, Andy and Craig Beddie gave a presentation to the members on the new requirements by the Ministry of Transportation on how vehicles must be secured on trailers when being transported.
Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. Did not get a count of number of members and guests attending the tour but would guess about 45.
