Kamloops Brass Monkey Tour 2007
October 28 was the last tour of the year for the Kamloops Chapter. It is called
the Brass Monkey Tour because it is always cold. There was no snow this year, but a cold wind had
everyone bundled up.
Forty-four people gathered at the Valleyview A&W for
breakfast or coffee and the tour commenced at 10AM.
The first stop was to Jim Harker's garage (pictures 1
through 6) where we saw his completed 1960 Chevrolet convertible (pictures 003
& 005); a 1961 Valiant sedan project for his sister (pictures 003 &
005);and his latest acquisition (pictures 004 & 006) a Jaguar saloon which
looks like a real challenge but Jim indicated that he got all the parts for it
so he is happy.
The next stop was to Craig Beddie's where we saw the
progress on his restoration of a 1969 Oldsmobile Cutlass 442 convertible (
pictures 007,008 & 009). The workmanship is outstanding. This is going to be
a gorgeous car when finished. Picture 010 is of memorabilia on the wall and
trophies he has won for his 47 Mercury pickup which was a 1st place winner and
People's choice at the 2004 May Tour. Picture 011 is of the Mercury pickup in
its storage trailer for the winter.
The next stop was to Andy Cordonier's shop where the
restoration of the 1952 Austin Sheerline ambulance is undergoing a frame off
restoration by club members. A chilli lunch was provided by Jim Harker
along with pot luck sidedishes and desserts from the members. The pictures 012
to 016 show the ambulance and the crowd of members enjoying the afternoon. The day finished with a stop at Connie Meyer's.
