As part of the annual Maple Ridge Fair, the Golden Ears Chapter of The Vintage Car Club of Canada and it's 77 members produced, in the Cam Neely arena of Planet Ice, a stunning display of vintage automobiles that brought smiles and fond memories to everyone. 

Our 45 cars thrilled over 1500 visitors.  They drooled over vehicles ranging from a 1902 Baker Electric Queen Victoria to a 1966 Plymouth Satellite convertible.  Augmenting our display were BOLER trailers, pedal cars, Valve cover racers, a soapbox racer, a wooden car and a popular beanbag toss game for the children.

As the visitors strolled through the history represented by our cars, they marveled at the technology of the 1902 Electric car, the compactness of the 1906 REO Runabout also known as "the horseless carriage", the huge size of the green 1911 Russell Knight, the sleekness of the Thunderbirds, the size of the 40's cars and the luxury of the 50's and 60's automobiles.

Our display included a campground, complete with camp fire and wiener roasters, a mechanic's garage with a Model T under repair, a body shop with a pink '55 Ford Fairlaine being restored and a "Typical A & W Drive-in" with window trays, mugs and of course the Great Root Bear was there to entertain us all.  The People's Choice Award was captured by Max Spooner's shiny black 1956 Thunderbird convertible.

Wayne Waddell, the Display Chairman and organizer, would like to thank all the Chapter Members who volunteered their time to create, monitor and dismantle the display as well as all the generous sponsors who so kindly donated prizes for the draws.  The winning tickets were drawn by Maple Ridge Mayor, Kathy Morse, assisted by 9-year-old Soap Box racecar owner Riley Donaldson.
